The Moynihan Group, LLC is a registered Limited Liability Company in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our firm offers professional legal, government relations, and consulting services to public, private and non-profit entities. We provide a strategic management style approach, specializing in hands on advocacy, to ensure our clients’ needs are met and their goals are achieved. The Moynihan Group also provides our clients with fundraising and business development services. Through a vast network of contacts and an extensive business and political network, The Moynihan Group is in a unique position to offer our clients with various avenues by which to effectuate their goals.
Attorney Sean P. Moynihan is the founder and principal of The Moynihan Group. Mr. Moynihan is a 1992 cum laude graduate of Providence College and a 2001 cum laude graduate of Suffolk University Law School’s evening division program. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in January of 2002. He has a dynamic record of professional experience in the insurance, financial services, non-profit, and public sectors of the economy. Mr. Moynihan spent over a decade of that time in the public service arena. He served in various positions with the Massachusetts House of Representatives including Legislative Director, Counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee and Counsel to the House Majority Leader. During his time in the Ways and Means Committee and the Office of the House Majority Leader, Mr. Moynihan worked on a myriad of significant public policy issues – in particular - energy and the environment, life sciences/biotech, education, labor, and the administration of justice in the Commonwealth.
Mr. Moynihan is a past member and Chairman of the Northboro Democratic Town Committee and volunteer for the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He has managed and worked on numerous municipal, state, and congressional campaigns.
Mr. Moynihan also serves on the Board of Directors of the Boston Irish Business Association [BIBA]. He manages the organization's Innovation Center and is chairman of BIBA's Government Affairs Committee.
In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Moynihan has worked with international organizations, in particular those located in Ireland and Northern Ireland. His past and present consulting and volunteer efforts include working with the William J. Clinton Centre and Fermanagh College, both of Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland; the Derry City Council, Derry, Northern Ireland; and Mary Immaculate College of Limerick, Ireland.
Recognitions/Awards
Mr. Moynihan has been recognized for his efforts during his educational and professional careers. During his first year of law school, Mr. Moynihan was recognized as Best Oral Advocate. His firm grasp of the legislative process and his ability to effectuate productive relationships was recognized in 1995 when he was named Freshman Legislative Aide of the Year by the House Majority Leader and in his subsequent promotions to higher level staff positions within the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Mr. Moynihan was recently named one of the Irish Echo’s top 40 under 40 award recipients for 2009 and was 1 of 5 to receive a young leadership award from the Irish Echo and the Presidents' Club of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
